Here I am in a coffee shop. To be specific, the coffee shop next to my apartment. If I dare take the effort, I could even see the balcony of my apartment from where my general location is. I am an outstanding cliché, sitting at a coffee shop aiming to write. Clichés are bad- specially when they are the sex and racially charged kind, but this time I rather consider this a troupe more than anything else. I am a sitting troupe. Hi. *queue in the title of the movie*.

Perhaps it is the fact that adjacent to this space there is construction — A world I feel at ease with. The humming of the machines allow me to concentrate, oddly enough. Represents a sense of security that probably has to do with some subconscious realization that my industry is booming (#humblebrag).

Perhaps it is the fact that there is a super cheesy playlist in the background that I did not curate, and therefore I can shamelessly enjoy (but why don’t you put on your headphones?, my dear husband would ask). Because the serendipity of life is often inspiration itself.

It’s probably because it is the closest thing to a risk-free environment, with the benefits to be a window to the world. I am exposed to noise, and looks, and judgement. But also to architecture, people, and the beautifully cast shadows of the earth going around the sun.

The coffee helps.
