This was such an amazing read.

There is something that troubles me about the retaliation era. Some of the problems that we attribute to womanhood are just the pains of being a human. We have to be careful not to perpetuate manufactured differences between women and men by trying to make regular struggles of being a human in society part of the “female struggle”. Doing this takes away from our credibility and make it seem we are seeking superiority instead of equality.

But seriously, what a thought provoking article. You really captured how I felt growing up with all these crazy images of womanhood that I, like you eloquently expressed, avoided emulating in order assert my dominance and avoid being someone’s side character.
